Cahorra Bassa is the new EP from Brighton producer/DJ duo Rob Savage & Tim Walker – AKA Slick Brutus. The EP marks a departure from Slick Brutus’s previous Nu-Disco orientated sound to a more live, organic and warmer sound spectrum – heavily influenced by the sounds, vibe and people of the African continent. All of this is still delivered with Slick Brutus’s signature combination of driving grooves that resonate with natural musicality.

The EP’s opener, Zambezi Moonshine, is a richly layered hybrid of Afro-Electronica and Deep Disco that morphs into an whirling fusion of analogue synths and choral elements.
Silvers Shoals is a sun drenched slice of percussion infused Afro Funk, with beautifully rich orchestration and atmospheric vocals floating over a hypnotically rolling groove.
Rolihlahla is Slick Brutus’ dedication to the great man, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, former ANC leader and first black president of South Africa. When Mandela was a child he was given the forename Rolihlahla, a Xhosa term colloquially meaning ‘Troublemaker’. And if this serving of growling Afro-house is anything, it is trouble. A tribute that is also a dancefloor killer.
